To meet the customers manufacturing requirements, WaldrichSiegen has reached a new level in five-axis processing for KSB Nuclear Pumps and Valves Co., Ltd in Shanghai, China, a producer of pumps and valves and a specialist in the field of conventional power generating.
The overall dimensions of the Union boring mill KSC 150 with movement paths of 3,500 x 2,500 x 2,500 mm and a NC-rotary table with a diameter of 1,200 mm with an integrated rotating A-axis enables accurate positioning and processing of large and complex workpieces from different angels. The programming can be done via CAM software with 3D-simulation and corresponding post-processor for review of the entire toolpath.
The boring mill is also equipped with an automated tool and milling head changer for fast and efficient exchange of 3 milling heads and 120 tools. By using this machine in their production process, KSB is now equipped to manufacture complex workpieces like impellers in-house and does no longer depend on external suppliers.
